Finally made it here
When I started thinking about moving to Nashville, there were a million different things running through my head. Like how it went from Kendra White and I playing at Bobby T's in Manhattan to our first band with Zac Bishop, Kevin Meier and Kevin Henrichs to playing with Jason Mann, Kenton Ashcraft, Dan Minihan and Garrett Reser and now deciding to move to Nashville. But, I finally had my mind made up that I was going to do it. After I told my family at Easter that I was going to I knew they thought I was crazy (Who wouldn't think someone is crazy by just up and moving to Nashville where dreams crash and burn) but they were also supportive. I had a great friend David Oakleaf who had been in Nashville for 5 years telling me I was going to be alright out here. Well that's pretty easy for a guy to say that's been on CMT haha.
Now I'm here in Nashville and have been for roughly about 5 months. I have to say it's been a great learning experience out here. Being around great songwriters and performers night after night. To be honest when I first was out here I did not want to pick up a guitar and sing. Sometimes the room would be filled with a few people who had written number one hits. I feared my songs were not worthy of them even listening to. But, always having good friends, family and fans I had to hop up on that stage and do it. But, I'll tell you I was more nervous playing in front of that group of 20 people than I ever was playing in front of 18,000 people at a festival. After a few weeks David Oakleaf and I began our writing sessions like we had planned to and began to write the new songs for JDB's new album. As we were working on it I brought him a song I had sitting on the table for quite a bit about K-State. We sat down and finished it with Dustin Keith and decided that it needed to become our first priority. So we hopped in the studio with producer Michael Adams and fellow musicians Dustin Keith, Kevin Henrichs and Garrett Reser and recorded it. It's been a fun experience with this song because there is nothing else like it out there and it makes me a very proud wildcat! Now as 2012 is about to begin and less than 11 days away we're looking to what JDB is going to be coming out with next. I've been meeting with a guy and potential manager talking about JDB's future album and direction we're going to take to get you some new stuff. And I'm very excited in the direction we're headed. We're looking to be able to release something to you guys in March/April if not before. Also a little secret for the ones who read this, We're going to be recording our first "real" music video and It'll come out along with the new tunes. Also for everyone in Kansas if our friends Reckless Rebellion, Lucas Maddy, Randel Stueve Band, Stewart Ray, Craig Stennass, Aaron Traffas, Logan Mize or any other Kansas band (sorry if I missed anyone) is playing close please go check them out! They'll show you a great time Kansas will always be my home sweet home. Thanks for all the support and have a very Merry Christmas and we'll see ya'll in 2012! Jared |
